Beginner Classes

BASIC SERGER TECHNIQUE

Want to become best friends with your Serger? After mastering some of the basic techniques we will be covering in this new three hour class, you will be comfortable with how your serger works, finding correct needle placement, tying off and on, narrow and wide overlock, how to handle inside curves, outside curves and rolled hems. You will be delighted with the new creations you will make after learning these simple techniques. Class size will be limited to five students.

BEYOND MACHINE BASICS PART I

This is a hands-on lecture/demonstration class. Let's take the fear and mystery out of how to install a zipper in a project. Participants will sew 3 different zipper applications. Other topics will include: how to apply ribbing to a neckline, hemming, and how to apply elastic in a waistband.

BEYOND MACHINE BASICS PART II

We will continue to increase our sewing skills. This class is a lecture/demonstration and hands-on. You will need your sewing machine (please make sure it is in good working order) and instruction book for your machine. Clubs

ELNA STUDIO SERIES 1

We are very excited to introduce an Elna eXcellence series owners club. We will introduce new accessories and techniques and features for the Elna 7300, 720, 730, 740 and 760 models. The class will be lecture formatted and include a block-of-the-month. The class meets the 1st Wednesday of every month and goes for a whole year. The price includes a $100 gift card.

EMBROIDERY CLUB

Each session of Embroidery Club is full of embroidery designs, projects and ideas that can be used on garments, home dec, kid stuff and more. You will receive full color direction sheets for several projects as well as original designs on a diskette or your own flash drive in your particular machine's format. No need to download from the Internet or convert designs. During this fun lecture-demo class you will also learn helpful hints on embroidering and hooping techniques, stabilizers, marking and new products. Bring your own projects for “show and tell” and there always a chance to win a door prize. Classes meet three times every other month with a morning, evening and weekend session for your convenience. PATCHWORK PARTY

Karin is busy as a bee gathering new tips, techniques, new and advanced quilting information, fabrics, and tools for the 2013 Patchwork Party season. Small projects and short block of the month projects will be focused on. This fall we will be getting ready for the holidays. Projects to decorate your home and table as well as fun and easy gift ideas will be the focus. Some projects my even take little or no sewing. Professional speakers will be coming in to give small lecture/demos, and will be eager and willing to answer all your quilting questions. Are you thinking of trying your hand at quilting? DRESSES FOR AFRICA

Use your sewing skills and join us to create and sew simple dresses which will be combined with the Little Dresses for Africa mission project. The group will meet the second Friday of every month.

QUILTS FOR SOLDIERS

Quilts for Soldiers is a quilt making workshop to provide quilts for service members in V.A. hospitals, and children of soldiers. We ask that you bring your machine, rulers, thread, and all the usual quilting supplies. If you don't have some of these, we will have these, too. Donated fabric is available OR you may bring any fabric selection of your choice. Anyone interested in a contribution of fabric may also do so. BEGINNING QUILTING ~ CUTTING & PIECING SIMPLE BLOCKS & QUILTS

This is a good class for brand new quilters who have NEVER used a rotary cutter or made a quilt block, however, each student MUST be comfortable using their sewing machine. Learn the basics of rotary cutting, and quilt block piecing, plus how to put a simple project together. Students will piece a small table runner or wall hanging in class with some homework.

BINDING BASICS

KNIT HAPPY CLUB - ALL LEVELS

Come join our New Knitting Club. We will be meeting once a month on the fourth Wednesday of the month. You will learn a technique each meeting so you will need to be bring yarn & needles to practice on. You will also be given a new pattern to add to your collections of patterns. We also will be sharing Ideas for the yarn we carry. And we will introduce new notions and needles that will make your Knitting more enjoyable. KNITTING BASICS BEGINNER

It will be a two day class - The first day: learn the knit cast on, the knit stitch and the knit bind off. The second day: learn the long tail cast on, the purl stitch and the purl bind off. You will be working on small sample pieces in class. No pressure to be perfect. It's just practice. You will be given the pattern for the simple scarf that is on display.
