BEYOND MACHINE BASICS PART II

We will continue to increase our sewing skills. This class is a lecture/demonstration and hands-on. You will need your sewing machine (please make sure it is in good working order) and instruction book for your machine. We will work on creating samples for the following: Buttonholes (buttonhole foot) Blind hem (blind hem foot) Notched turtleneck collar Lettuce edge neck application

KIDS CRAFT CLUB

Youth ages 9 and up are invited to attend the Kids Craft Club! Participants will learn a new craft that will be both functional and FUN! Participants are asked to register by Wednesday before the club meets so supplies can be purchased. A few of the projects for the coming year are: an embellished needle book, new hand embroidery stitches and a few surprises.

MACHINE BASICS

Are you: New to sewing? Have you: Sewn in the past and now have a renewed interest in sewing? Do you: Have a new machine or a machine you haven't used for some time? Participants will become familiar with the mechanics of the sewing machine. You will cut out and construct two projects: a pillowcase and a scissor caddy. If time permits, a pincushion will also be constructed. Supplies for pin cushion will be provided.

PATCHWORK PARTY

Karin is busy as a bee gathering new tips, techniques, new and advanced quilting information, fabrics, and tools for the 2014 Patchwork Party season. Small projects and short block of the month projects will be focused on. This fall we will be getting ready for the holidays. Projects to decorate your home and table as well as fun and easy gift ideas will be the focus. Some projects my even take little or no sewing. Professional speakers will be coming in to give small lecture/demos, and will be eager and willing to answer all your quilting questions. Are you thinking of trying your hand at quilting? Beginners, intermediate, and advanced quilters are welcome. Show & Tell is shown every month, so please come and share your creations with all of us. HUGS FOR KIDS

Pack up your machine and join us on one or more of the dates listed below. Patterns, fabric & accessories are all provided for these quick and easy-to-assemble stuffed animals. These delightful little critters bring needed comfort to children in traumatic situations.

QUILTS FOR SOLDIERS

Quilts for Soldiers is a quilt making workshop to provide quilts for Service Members in V.A. hospitals, and children of Soldiers. We ask that you bring your machine, rulers, thread, and all the usual quilting supplies. If you don't have some of these, we will have these too. Donated fabric is available OR you may bring any fabric selection of your choice. Anyone interested in a contribution of fabric may also do so. BINDING BASICS

Come learn four basic binding variations. Students will understand all four, choose one to make and apply, and then decide on the binding of their choice for their next quilt project.

FILLING NEGATIVE SPACE

Do you love Modern Quilts? Are you having trouble quilting them? This is the class for you. You will make the quilt top at home and bring it to class ready to be quilted. You will learn Angela Walters quilt patterns that will help you fill in all that blank space that is so intimidating.

HOW TO FINISH YOUR QUILT

Learn the concepts of how to finish any size quilt. This hands-on workshop will show how to layer, quilt and bind with lots of techniques and directions. Students must have a small quilt top ready to be basted. Supply list will give more information. Beginning Quilting students and others are welcome.

MAKING BLOCKS AND PIECING THE TOP

This is a good class for any quilter who wants to learn how to choose fabrics, how to accurately piece quilt blocks, and how to decide what to do with these blocks. Students will piece three or four blocks of three different patterns and can use these nine or twelve blocks in a project of their choice.

PINEAPPLE PLUS

Want to learn a new technique to make a fast baby or lap quilt? Looks difficult with all the triangles but I will show you an easy way to tackle this block using just squares. This is a fun technique all quilters will want to learn.

CLOTHESLINE-BOWLING

Be imaginative and learn to make decorative and usable bowls from clothesline. You will learn the technique to coil and zig-zag stitch together lengths of clothesline, either plain, dyed or fabric wrapped to create a bowl of your choice from a variety of shapes. Fun and easy!

SANDY'S TRILOGY PT 1: CUTTING AND SCARF CONSTRUCTION

You will lean an easy way to cut the scarf out of 2 fabrics on a bias. Then, out of the remainder of the fabric, you will cut the fabric for the front of the Sweatshirt Jacket and the Purse. An explanation of the scarf construction will be explained in this class.

SANDY'S TRILOGY PT 2: SWEATSHIRT JACKET

You will be using PRIMO flannel to embellish the jacket. Learn to cut the sweatshirt in class. Also, you will be learning how to attach the panels. pockets, binding and a zipper.

2 Ties and the remaining fabric will make this really cute purse. It will complete the emsemble.

Yarn Classes

BEYOND KNITTING BASICS

You must know how to knit and purl for this class. You will be learning 3 different increase stitches and 3 different decrease stitches. No STRESS- this is just practice.

KNITTING BASICS

It will be a 2 day class - The 1st day - Learn to cast on, the knit stitch and the knit bind off. The 2nd day – Learn the purl stitch and the purl bind off. You will just be practicing on small sample pieces in class. You will be given the pattern for the simple scarf that is on display. There will be an explanation of how to knit the scarf in the 2nd class. This class will be limited to 4 Students so don’t hesitate to sign up.

OPEN KNIT

We are scheduling 3 hours every Friday for an Open knit time. Come join us for the camaraderie of knitting or crocheting. Bring a friend or meet some new ones. This is not a class so there will be no instructor, just 3 hour of uninterrupted knitting time. WHAT A PLEASURE!
